Travel day – leaving Lusk, WY to Box Elder, SD on Monday, 5/12/25. We traveled via the 18 E. Approximately 3 hours on the road and 152 miles. Short drive.
Traffic conditions – no traffic but two-lane roads (one direction on each side) and occasional road work causing lane closures.
Weather – hot! In the low 90*s.
Sights – rabbits, cows, horses, turkeys
Stops – none
Notable – Cowboys rounding up cattle, Otis chasing a rabbit at campground in Lusk and not returning (selective hearing! LOL!)
food - Dakotah Steakhouse
Fantastic dinner at Dakotah Steakhouse. In front of the restaurant is a sculpture called Dakotah the Buffalo. Very cool sculpture with so many details! Check out the mini Mt. Rushmore on its back!
Dinner = Filet Mignon, Bacon-wrapped Buffalo Tenderloin, Fry Bread, Chislic, adult beverages and salads. – All very good, No dessert surprisingly…we were both so full we couldn’t do it! We were already in pain.
Oh my gosh, that sculpture is amazing! There are so many details I could stare for hours!
