November 14, 2025 (Fri.) - A Day of Nothing.
We didn’t have anything on the agenda today—just a chance to rest, relax, and catch up on a few chores. Lynn was up at 7:00, Kirk at 9:15, and with the forecast calling for a beautiful day, we planned to keep things quiet and simple.
Breakfast was in the RV. Lynn settled into her usual blogging routine while Kirk enjoyed some TV before heading outside to tidy up the truck a bit more. The afternoon was pleasant, so we took advantage of the weather and sat outside for a while.
Around 4:00 we ventured into town. Kirk had his eye on a new TV since our current one has developed an annoying habit—it lags for a few seconds, then races at warp speed to catch up. Drives him crazy. Oddly enough, the bedroom TV doesn’t do this, so it’s probably the unit itself, not the internet. We browsed at Walmart but, shockingly, left empty‑handed. For now, Kirk decided to live with it and hope a software update might fix things. Afterward, we swung by the grocery store to restock supplies.
The evening was low‑key: dinner in the RV, Lynn back at the blog, and Kirk relaxing.
All in all, pretty much a day of nothing—but sometimes that’s exactly what you need.
Weather – High 75*, Low 53*. Wind 6-11 mph with 23 mph gusts. No rain. No humidity.
Traffic – None.
Food – Nothing to report.
Notable – Nothing.
Screen time – King & Conqueror.
November 15, 2025 (Sat.) - Easygoing Day: Waffles, Scenic Detours, and Rest.
Another day of unplanned activities in Forrest City, AR. There isn’t a whole lot going on here, but it gave Lynn a chance to catch up on the blog. With so many photos from recent adventures, there’s plenty to sort through. She was up at 6:00, watching the clouds race by in the morning wind. The sun rose beautifully behind the Waffle House sign—clearly a sign that breakfast was calling. We decided to give it another shot after our less‑than‑stellar visit in Frankfort, KY.
Kirk was up by 8:45, and by 9:00 we were at Waffle House. This time, the experience was great. Our server, Lasheena, was cheerful, bubbly, and her Arkansas accent made the whole meal feel extra warm. The food was good, though Kirk still thinks waffles should be crunchier, but overall it was tasty. The staff seemed genuinely happy, singing along to country music, which made the atmosphere fun. After breakfast, we stopped at the local post office to mail a few items before heading back to the RV. Kirk needed to book our next stop for Monday.
While Lynn tackled chores, Kirk made calls to at least three campgrounds in Arkansas—voicemail every time. Finally, he reached someone in Altus, AR, and booked a site. The catch? Cash only. Not ideal, but manageable.
By 11:15 we were ready to explore. Lynn found a scenic drive called Crowley’s Ridge Parkway, Arkansas’s first National Scenic Byway. It stretches 208 miles through Arkansas and into Missouri, and Forrest City sits right along it. We followed the signs north until they disappeared in Wynne, AR. Suddenly everything looked flat and unremarkable. After circling around trying to reconnect with the route, we gave up by 1:00 and decided lunch was the better option. A BBQ sign for “Ribs & More” caught Kirk’s eye, so we stopped. The food was fine, but nothing memorable. However, they do offer free Bibles there! Overall, the drive was just ok. Not a whole lot of scenery. Some autumn-colored trees, windy roads, nice properties and not so nice properties. But it was good to get out and explore. Perhaps if we’d have gone South, it might’ve been better.
By 2:00 we were back at the RV. More chores and phone calls followed, including a frustrating one with AAA about our move to South Dakota. They couldn’t even provide the phone number for AAA‑South Dakota, telling us to “look it up ourselves.” That didn’t sit well with Kirk, who was less than impressed with their customer service.
The rest of the afternoon was quiet. Lynn kept blogging, while Kirk rested and waged war on stink bugs and Asian lady beetles—likely hitchhikers from Tennessee. He had to be careful, since they leave stains when squashed.
Dinner was simple leftovers, followed by some TV, and more blogging (it’s like a full-time job!). A low‑key end to a low‑key day.
Weather – High 78*, Low 61*. Winds 12-17 mph with 34 mph gusts. No rain, no humidity.
Traffic – None.
Food – Nothing to report.
Notable – Waffle House atmosphere, parts of Crowley’s Ridge Parkway.
Screen time – The Witcher.
November 16, 2025 (Sun.) - More of Nothing.
It was another quiet day—pretty much nothing on the agenda except rest. We stayed close to the RV all day. Lynn was up at 7:30, sorting through the remaining 618 photos (started with 800+) from our Tail of the Dragon ride. The wind picked up early, which didn’t help her allergies. Kirk rolled out around 9:15 and made a pancake breakfast before tackling a project in the garage. He tried fixing the tabletop on the wagon, frustrated with the slats slipping out of place. Gluing the ends seemed like a good idea, but it only made the rolltop stick. Lynn suspects a new wagon may be in our future.
The rest of the day was spent in the RV—relaxing, blogging, and watching football.
For dinner, we drove over to Iguana’s since it was too chilly to walk. Kirk’s fajitas were excellent, while Lynn’s crispy tacos were pretty good. Shells were nice and crispy but lacked a bit of flavor. Back at the RV, we settled in for TV and the much‑anticipated release of Landman Season 2. It did not disappoint—we loved it!
Weather – High 71*, Low 49*. Winds 10-14 mph with 25 mph gusts. No rain. No humidity.
Traffic – None.
Food – Iguana’s – Kirk’s Fajitas were excellent.
Notable – Nothing much.
Screen time – Football, The Naked Gun (newer version), Robin Hood, Mayfair Witches, Dark Winds, Landman.
