July 24, 2026 (Fri.) - Chore day.
There was nothing on the agenda today. Lynn was up “late” at 7:30am — practically noon by her standards — most likely thanks to the interrupted medication schedule. Kirk slept in too, probably because Lynn’s alarm kept chiming all night like a very persistent, very annoying rooster.
The morning turned into chore time. Lynn tackled bills and paperwork while Kirk investigated the ongoing water‑pressure mystery. During Lynn’s reconciliation process, she discovered a charge from Lippert for $108 a year… for something we don’t even use. After a little digging and Kirk making a phone call to Lippert, they reversed three years of charges! Woohoo! Excellent customer service. Kirk also booked our next spot in Idaho, replaced the water filters, and squeezed in an hour of traffic school. Just three more hours to go — the finish line is in sight.
Lynn spent the rest of the day blogging and resting. She still wasn’t feeling great after the tooth extraction, so the afternoon was dedicated to taking it easy. At 8:30pm we ventured out for a walk around the campground. It was still 82° out — warm enough to remind us why we spent most of the day inside with the cool A/C.
A whole lot of nothing, plus a few chores and plenty of rest. Another day of hiding from the heat and keeping things simple.
Weather – High 90*, Low 67*. Wind 3-12/20 mph. No rain. Slight humidity.
Traffic – None. Didn’t go anywhere.
Food – Nothing to report. Ate in the RV all day. Lynn still on soft foods.
Notable – Refund from Lippert!
July 25, 2026 (Sat.) - A Hot Saturday of Cherries, Wandering, and Spiders.
We didn’t have much on the agenda today — it was Saturday, after all.
Lynn was up just before 6am and took a walk around 7:30, getting her laps in before the heat settled over the campground. Four loops came out to about two miles. Kirk finally emerged at 9am, and we had a light breakfast in the RV. Lynn finished off the last of her KFC mashed potatoes and gravy — the soft‑food hero of the week.
Around 11am we headed to the Flathead Cherry Festival in Polson. Knowing parking would be a circus in the truck, we rode in instead. Traffic into town was wild — clearly everyone had cherries on the brain. We lucked into a shady parking spot right near the entrance and wandered the festival streets. It reminded us of the Orange Street Fair: tons of vendors, tons of people, and tons of heat.
Of course, we had to buy Flathead Cherries! We didn’t even know there was such a thing as Flathead Cherries. They’re considered a ’boutique’ crop due to their limited production. Flathead cherries are a distinctive, locally grown sweet cherry produced along the shores of Flathead Lake in northwest Montana — one of the only places in the entire state with a climate mild enough to support cherry orchards. They’re known for being large, dark, sweet, and intensely flavorful, and they have a bit of a cult following. Kirk enjoyed them, Lynn not so much – not a fan of cherries.
After the festival, we rode north toward Kalispell and Whitefish but first we swung by the RV to stash the cherries in the fridge, then continued on. The smoky skies got worse the farther north we went.
By 1:15pm we were in Lakeside having lunch at Mavericks, a casino/bar/restaurant. They were only serving brunch, so Lynn stuck with scrambled eggs while Kirk had chicken and waffles. Both meals were… fine. Mostly, it was air‑conditioned, and that was the real victory.
At 2pm we headed toward Kalispell, drove through town, noted all the big box stores for future supply runs, then continued 20 minutes north to Whitefish. Cute town, very busy, City Beach packed. We didn’t stop — too hot, too crowded — but it was fun to get a feel for the area.
We were back at the RV by 4pm, cooled off in the A/C, put on a movie, and relaxed.
The rest of the evening was chore time — laundry, blogging, etc. Around 8pm, Kirk went outside to turn off the water‑softener portion of our system, since that seemed to be the culprit behind our low water pressure. While he was out there, he noticed part of the underbelly trim hanging down. During his attempt to fix it, two spiders crawled on him — absolutely not Lynn’s idea of a good time. He managed to get the trim secured enough so it wasn’t dangling anymore.
And honestly… that loose trim might explain how our previous critter visitor — the mouse — managed to sneak in. Mystery possibly solved. It’s a temporary fix, one he’ll have to shore up later.
A hot day, a cherry festival, smoky skies, and a spider‑filled RV repair — just another Saturday on the road.
Weather – High 91*, Low 66*. Wind 4-15/26 mph. No rain, no slight humidity.
Traffic – Crazy getting in and out of Polson.
Food – Flathead Cherries!
Notable – Flathead Cherry Festival, Whitefish.
Screen time – Cold Storage movie (good).
July 26, 2026 (Sun.) - Movie day.
We pretty much did nothing all day. With Lynn recovering from the tooth extraction and dealing with upset stomachs (most likely thanks to the medication cocktail), we stayed inside and embraced a full day of doing pretty much nothing.
Lynn was up at 5:45am and still went for a walk despite not feeling great. The walk was cut a bit short thanks to a friendly chat with Jerry from Arizona, but she did snag some beautiful sunrise shots — that orange‑ball glow over the lake never disappoints. Sunrise walks remain her favorite way to start the day, even on low‑energy mornings.
Kirk was up late around 9:45am. His main mission was simple: make breakfast, do chores, and keep things running smoothly. Lynn tackled a few chores too — laundry, dishes, and a bit of blogging.
Most of the day turned into a movie marathon: Taco Gary’s, The Body in the Locker, and 72 Hours. Only The Body in the Locker was worth watching. After that, we restarted Homeland — a series we never actually finished.
For dinner, Kirk grilled the brats from M&S Meats. They were tasty… and surprisingly spicy. Little did we know there was cheese in the brats too! It helps it we read the package! LOL.
And that was about it — plain, simple, and wonderfully uneventful. Not any pics today other than sunrise over the lake.
Weather – High 84*, Low 64*. Wind 4-9/16 mph. No rain, no humidity.
Traffic – None. Didn’t go anywhere.
Food – Nothing to report.
Notable – Nothing to report.
July 27, 2026 (Mon.) - Bigfork.
The original plan was to ride to Glacier National Park and take the bike up Going‑to‑the‑Sun Road. But Lynn’s stomach had other plans. The meds were definitely the culprit, and thankfully today was the last day of them. So we decided to wait until tomorrow for the Glacier ride.
Lynn was up somewhat late at 6:45am. She still went for her walk and woke to another glowing red sunrise over the lake. At this point, her sunrise photos are starting to look like a flipbook — same fiery orb, same lake, same vibe. During her walk, the camp host mentioned a trail on the beach side of the highway with gorgeous homes, even a few celebrity hideaways. But with her stomach acting up, there was no way she was darting across the highway today. That adventure gets postponed until we can drive over instead.
Kirk was up just past 9am, made breakfast, and relaxed. Around 10am, the camp host stopped by to let us know there was a water leak and the water would be turned off soon. Hopefully just for a short while.
By noon, the water was off, so we decided to check out Bigfork — a town Lynn’s dentist had mentioned. It’s about a 30‑minute drive around the lake. We wandered the quaint downtown and had lunch at Pocketstone Cafe. Lynn was hoping for soup but they don’t serve it in the summer. The only ‘soft’ food on the menu were pancakes. So she went with chocolate chip pancakes (way too sweet). Kirk had a turkey sandwich which was good but a little light on the meat. After wandering the town, we stopped in Polson for a grocery run before heading back.
By 4:30pm we were back at the RV, and thankfully the water was back on. Lynn’s stomach issues lingered, so she napped for two hours while Kirk fixed his “hitch” (a micro hitch) and enjoyed the quiet outdoors.
Dinner was at 7:30pm. Kirk grilled hotdogs for himself, and Lynn stuck with Stove Top stuffing — soft and gentle on the stomach. It was a very slow, simple day.
Weather – High 84*, Low 61*. Wind 2-6/12mph. No rain, no humidity.
Traffic – None.
Food – Nothing to report.
Notable – Bigfork, MT.
