June 15-16, 2026 (Mon.-Tue.) – 2 Days of Nothing.

June 15, 2026 (Mon.) - A Day of Relaxation.

We pretty much took today off. Lynn slept in until 7:00, and Kirk didn’t emerge until 9:45 — a rare slow morning for both of us. The day stayed low‑key: relaxing, chores, bills, and a bit of blogging. Kirk finally got back to the RV project he’d started a few days earlier and finished painting the rear door so the stickers looked seamless… or at least seamless from afar.

Lynn spent the day doing a deep clean — bedding, bathrooms, the whole works — while Kirk worked outside, grilled ribs, and we both enjoyed the quiet. The campground had emptied out, leaving everything peaceful and still.

As evening settled in, we had a campfire. We had all the fixings for s’mores, only to discover we no longer had our roasting sticks. So much for that plan. S’mores will have to wait for another day, but the campfire was still perfect — warm, relaxing, and the best way to end a simple, easy day. Not many pics today.

Weather – High 86*, Low 57*. Winds 1-11 mph with 18 mph gusts. No rain, no humidity.

Traffic – None, didn’t go anywhere.

Food – Kirk’s BBQ ribs. Delicious.

Notable – Kirk’s BBQ, relaxing.

Screen time – Homestead Rescue, Day of the Jackal, Over Your Dead Body (good!).

June 16, 2026 (Tue.) - Shopping and sunsets.

It was our last day in Vernal, UT — ten days total, which in hindsight might’ve been a bit too long, but it did give us plenty of much‑needed downtime. We didn’t have much on the agenda beyond travel prep and a little shopping, especially the all‑important mission to replace our missing s’mores roasting sticks.

Lynn was up around 6:15 and got her walk in early again to beat the heat. Kirk rolled out around 10 a.m. Since it was our final morning in town, we headed to Betty’s Cafe for one last breakfast. It was still delicious, just not quite the magical experience of the first visit — but that’s probably because nothing beats the surprise of discovering a great diner for the first time.

Next, we went into town on a quest for new trail shoes for Lynn. Her current pair has been worn down by all the walking, and the replacement she ordered on Amazon — same model, same size — arrived too small. A $150 disappointment and a reminder that shoes are one of those things you really do have to try on in person. Foot pain is right up there with tooth pain: absolutely miserable. No luck finding shoes though.

Our next stop was Walmart to stock up on supplies. We found the new s’mores roasting sticks, and Kirk somehow walked out with a new axe. Naturally, that meant we now needed mounting hardware so he could install it in the truck’s toolbox. So off to Harbor Freight we went. Thankfully, with perishables in the car and the temperature sitting at 93°, his browsing time was limited.

The rest of the afternoon was spent relaxing and trying to stay cool. Dinner was at a Thai restaurant (Khao Hom), which was pretty good, and the evening wrapped up with a beautiful sunset — a perfect way to end our time in Vernal before heading to Colorado tomorrow. Not many pics today either.

Weather – High 93*, Low 58. Winds 3-13 mph with 22 mph gusts. No rain, slightly humid.

Traffic – None.

Food – Thai food – decent.

Notable – Sunset.
