May 23, 2025 (Fri.) - Rain, movie day
Mother nature woke us up at around 0200. The rain came down extremely loud but we loved it, especially since there was no wind. It rained on and off all day thus we didn’t accomplish much. Our goal was to find some doctors and that is still in the works.
Kirk went to the Ford dealership, bought door guards for the passenger doors which protect them from Otis’ slobber. When the rain stopped, Kirk cleaned out his truck, made a new friend (Bo, the maintenance guy).
My accomplishments for the day = laundry (5 loads!), dishes, bills, doctor research, re-organizing my closet, blogging.
Otis’ accomplishments = claiming all available floor space so we have to navigate an obstacle course. He’s an expert at being master of exactly where I need to step and I’ve become an expert in body contortion just to get around. I know I’m going to twist a knee or something soon!
Weather = High of 64*, Low of 47*, Rain intermittent all day. A little sun, but mostly rain.
Movies = Death of a Unicorn – very entertaining, The Heretic (Kirk watched while I blogged) – good.
May 24, 2025 (Sat.) - rain, new dog park, food
Another gloomy, rain-soaked day, but this time with an extra layer of heavy fog. Naturally, that meant another slow day with not much happening. We tackled a few errands—refilling propane at U-Haul, making returns at Runnings, and picking up Otis’ flea and heartworm meds at Dakota Hills Veterinary Clinic.
We tried a new lunch spot today—The Bashful Bison in downtown, which conveniently houses a brewery inside (they also have a lot of games and puzzles!). The moment we walked in, Kirk was immediately drawn to the cinnamon rolls sitting temptingly on the counter. Resistance was futile. He chose one topped with pecans, and after they warmed it up, it was pure bliss—rich, gooey, and absolutely delicious! Even though I usually lean toward savory over sweet, I had to admit, it was fantastic. Then came the sandwiches. And wow—both were outstanding! Kirk went for the Paha Sapa, a stack of pastrami, sausage, and ham, while I opted for the New Underwood sandwich (Pulled Pork). The pastrami was melt-in-your-mouth tender and packed with flavor, and my pulled pork had a perfect balance of smokiness and crunch, just how I like it. Needless to say, we’ll definitely be back for another round!
The highlight of the day? Discovering Braeburn Dog Park, a highly recommended spot that absolutely lived up to the hype! It’s officially our new favorite—a wide-open, off-leash haven with a creek running through it for dogs to splash and swim. Well, most dogs. Otis, true to form, wanted nothing to do with the water and stayed high and dry. The park also has gorgeous creekside trails lined with trees, making a great walking trail. While it is smaller and lacks a paved walking path like Robbinsdale, it more than makes up for it as there are more dogs for Otis to play with in a beautiful locale.
As for me (Lynn), I spent the afternoon working on the blog—and providing some unintentional comic relief. In what can only be described as a feat of improbable clumsiness, I managed to slip and fall on the RV’s lone two steps. It smarted quite a bit but was honestly hilarious. How does one manage to wipe out in a space that’s only 245 square feet? The mystery remains… and, for once, I can’t even blame the dog! 😂
Weather – Fog/Haze – High of 58*, Low of 48*. Rain.
Traffic – none.
Movie – Knox Goes Away – entertaining
Notable – Braeburn Dog Park, Bashful Bison Deli & Market, Lynn fell
Video - Otis at Braeburn dog park
You can see Otis playing but then notices Kirk is gone. Then sees him, runs right by me (because I don’t exist, LOL) and finds him! Otis looks so happy though! 🙂
May 25, 2025 (Sun.) - Rain, Movie theater
Three straight days of rain, and cabin fever is officially setting in.
With not much else to do, we tackled laundry and decided to escape to the movies at AMC. I’d been eager to see The Accountant 2 since I loved the first one, and my sister—who happens to be a CPA—insisted I’d enjoy it. The AMC here is definitely on the older side, without online seat reservations, so we had to get there early to grab decent seats. Figuring it wouldn’t be too crowded since the movie had been out for a while (and Mission Impossible was still dominating the box office), we were surprised to find the theater packed—mostly with our demographic… seniors! 😂 I absolutely loved the movie (especially enjoyed the line dancing and cats aspects), while Kirk thought it was just okay.
Meanwhile, RV life with a dog gets extra interesting when it’s rainy. Kirk, ever the responsible pet owner, took Otis out and diligently tried to locate what needed to be picked up. Turns out, it was much harder to find because—yep—he was standing in it! That little surprise made for a very entertaining afternoon. 🤣
Weather – High 55*, Low 48* – Rain all day. Very mild winds.
Notable – The Accountant 2 movie, Kirk’s misstep
No pics for today.
You guys are living the dream. dog park looks cool, but not as good as the cinnamon rolls. seems like keeping the blog going would be time consuming and a pain, explains why Kirk isn’t doing it. we enjoy following your blog, keep up the great “job”. being retired doesn’t suck right?
Haha! You are so right about Kirk not doing the blog…it is a bit time consuming but it will serve as our ‘memory’ since we don’t have one, LOL! Glad you enjoy the blog. Miss you guys and yes, retirement does not suck! 🙂
