October 3, 2025 (Fri.) - Around Frankenmuth.
Today’s adventure took us to Frankenmuth, a charming town celebrated for its rich German heritage, Bavarian-style architecture, and festive culture. It’s affectionately known as “Little Bavaria,” and it’s easy to see why.
The day began in typical fashion—Lynn was up and moving by 7:00 AM, while Kirk rolled out of bed closer to 10:00. By 11:30, we were on the road. Luckily, Frankenmuth was just a short five-mile drive from our campground, making for a quick and easy trip.
We spent the afternoon wandering through quaint shops brimming with cheese, candy, and souvenirs. A stop at the Visitors Center gave us a nice overview of the town. Though small, Frankenmuth is packed with charm and easy to explore on foot. Along the way, we spotted several butterfly murals, crossed a picturesque covered bridge, and soaked in the Bavarian vibes.
Lunch was a highlight. At 1 PM, we settled in at the Bavarian Inn—not for their famous chicken dinners, but for a taste of traditional German fare. We shared a plate of wiener schnitzel, bratwurst, and knackwurst. Sadly, the dunkel beer was sold out (4 different brands!), but Kirk made do with another brew that was decent enough. The portions were generous, loaded with classic sides, and yes—we still found room for dessert…apple strudel with ice cream, just ok.
After our feast, we returned to the RV to rest and digest. The heat made it a perfect excuse for a midday nap. Later in the evening, we stretched our legs with a short hike along the campground trail.
Back in Yorba Linda, CA, it was the “Puzzled & Confused” team’s 6th Puzzle Palooza competition. Lynn spent the evening sending good vibes and wishing them luck! They ended up 5th (out of 13) with a time of 45:42 for a 500-piece puzzle. Great job guys!
Not many photos today. We’ve got a few more days to enjoy Frankenmuth, and we’re looking forward to what’s next.
