October 6, 2025 (Mon.) - Kirk's Birthday!
Today is Kirk’s day to do whatever he wants. At 61 years-old, he earned that right! So he slept in and we ended up having a late breakfast at Bob Evans for pancakes.
Next stop was a hardware store to seal up the tailgate to prevent any moisture from getting in. Then we went to Camping World to buy new chairs that we’ve been eyeing the last three times we’ve been to this same store! We finally pulled the trigger and got our new patriotic colored rocking chairs. No, the chairs are not his birthday present as he’s still eyeing something else for that (not a new motorcycle or truck…that was last year!). But it was a good time to get new ones and we both got something new on his special day.
The afternoon was spent with him sealing the tailgate, relaxing and napping!
Around 5 PM we went back to Frankenmuth to check out BRONNER’S CHRISTmas WONDERLAND, the World’s Largest Christmas Store open 361 days a year! The store is enormous and has just about everything you could possibly think of in ornaments and decorations. We didn’t buy anything as living in an RV doesn’t have room for a tree much less storing holiday decorations. We also stopped by the Silent Night Memorial Chapel just across the parking lot.
For Kirk’s birthday dinner, he decided to try out Zehnder’s of Frankenmuth as they advertise their famous chicken dinners. It’s all you can eat and they give you sooo much food! Their chicken is fantastic! It’s a three-course meal with appetizers, main course and dessert for $32/person. We were so stuffed we were in pain.
After dinner, we took a stroll through town, though most of the shops had already closed for the night. Still, the walk was refreshing. With darkness settling in, we drove past Bronner’s once more. Though the store was closed, its dazzling display lights lit up the parking lot like a festive beacon. We also visited the Silent Night Memorial Chapel and crossed the covered bridge again—this time at night under the glow of a brilliant full moon.
By 8 PM, we were back at the RV, completely stuffed. We tried watching a TV series, but it turned out to be so unsettling that Lynn had to turn it off.
Around midnight, the rain began. It was loud enough to wake us, though in an RV, even a gentle drizzle can sound like a downpour. It had been a while since we’d had a good rain, so it was oddly comforting.
It was a quiet birthday—just the two of us (still missing Otis🐾). Simple, low-key, memorable. Here’s to many more birthdays ahead!
