August 26, 2025 (Tue.) - The House on the Rock.

Today marked our last full day in Wisconsin Dells—we extended our stay by one extra day and head out tomorrow for West Bend, WI.

The morning began with dropping Otis off at doggie daycare again, since we had a full day planned in Spring Green, about an hour’s drive away. No overnight stay—just a day trip. Before hitting the road, we grabbed breakfast at the Courtyard Café in town. Kirk went with the corned beef hash, recommended by our server, and it was delicious. Lynn stuck with bacon and eggs, which were solid—hard to mess that up.

Our main destination was The House on the Rock (THOTR), a truly unique attraction that came recommended by a staff member at the Sauk County Humane Society. The website suggests setting aside 2–3 hours, so we knew we’d be gone most of the day—hence Otis’s boarding.

We chose the Ultimate Tour, which includes all three sections of the house. At will call, you can purchase tokens to activate music at various displays throughout the tour. We went for the $5 token package, which gave us 15 tokens (normally $1 for 2). Any unused tokens can be redeemed for credit in the gift shop—nice touch!

The House itself is mind-blowing. Just when you think you’ve seen it all, another room opens up. The layout is brilliantly designed to guide you through seamlessly, and the sheer volume of items is staggering. Our favorite part was Section 1, which includes the original house with the Infinity Room. The other sections are a collector’s dream—everything from antiques to replicas to custom creations. Whether authentic or not, it’s all fascinating. Highlights included a massive carousel and the musical instrument displays, which were both whimsical and impressive. We spent about three hours exploring, racking up plenty of steps. Tickets were $35 per person, and we ended up with $5 in unused token credit, which we used to buy a sticker in the gift shop.

By 3:30 PM, we picked up Otis—who was thrilled to see us—and headed back to the RV for a quick nap. Dinner was RV-style, and Kirk spent some time prepping the exterior for travel. We wrapped up the evening with a cozy campfire, soaking in the last bit of the Dells before hitting the road tomorrow.
