August 24, 2025 (Sun.) - Chores, TV day
Today was a true day of rest. Being Sunday in a touristy town, we knew the crowds would be out in full force, so we opted to stay in and recharge.
Â
The morning was spent catching up on chores. Lynn dove into her backlog of blog posts, while Kirk handled RV tasks and booked logistics. With rain in the forecast, we made a grocery and supply run to Walmart—and $400 later, we were officially stocked up. Oof.
Â
Right around 4 PM, the skies opened up—perfect timing, as Kirk had just returned from picking up an Amazon package at the front office and emptying the tanks so Lynn could tackle more laundry.
Â
Lynn was on a roll, cranking out four blog posts in one day—a major win. We ate all our meals in the RV, because… well, we just spent a small fortune on groceries. Might as well enjoy them.
Â
The rest of the day was spent relaxing and watching a movie. We finally bit the bullet and paid $20 to stream Superman (2025)—we were that desperate for something new. Thankfully, we had enough Amazon Prime credits, so it didn’t cost us a dime in the end. It was entertaining enough, especially with the dog in it.
Â
A quiet, cozy Sunday. Just what we needed.
Â
No photos from today other than the Kringle we bought at Walmart. We had no idea that Wisconsin had an Official Pastry! It was pretty good.
Â
Weather – High 67*, Low 54*. Wind 11-15 mph with gusts up to 27 mph. Low humidity. A little rain.
Traffic – None.
Food – Nothing to report. Ate in the RV all day.
Notable – Lynn’s productive day.
August 25, 2025 (Mon.) - Deer Park, Around The Dells, Truck detail.
Today marked our second to last full day in Wisconsin Dells, and we took it slow. The town was noticeably quieter than it had been all week, which made for a pleasant change. We wandered around, popped into a few gift shops for souvenirs and cheese, and Lynn wanted to visit Deer Park to feed the animals.
Deer Park was charming and relatively empty, which made it easy to roam. Admission was $44 for two, plus $8 for a package of crackers to feed the deer, goats, horses, and more. What they don’t tell you? The free-roaming deer aren’t fans of the crackers—they much prefer the corn and pellet mix from the colored vending machines inside the park (bring quarters!). The deer behind fences were more receptive, though.
As we wrapped up the visit, we reached the goat enclosure. Lynn wanted to use up the last of the crackers, and Kirk joked that goats eat anything. Turns out, not these goats—they ignored the crackers but went straight for the packaging! One goat even snatched the bag right out of Lynn’s hands, masking tape and all. There’s a sign warning not to leave packaging on the fence because goats will eat it—well, Lynn didn’t leave it, but the goat took matters into its own hooves. Definitely gave us a good laugh to end the tour.
Lunch was at a place formerly known as Bob’s Big Boy—they’ve dropped the ‘Bob’ in the name, but to us, it’ll always be Bob’s Big Boy. The retro decor was fun, but the food was predictably what you’d expect (just okay).
By 2 PM, we were back at the RV enjoying the beautiful weather. Kirk took a nap, and Lynn settled outside with a magazine until the chill crept in and she retreated indoors for a nap of her own. Retirement perks in full swing.
By 4 PM, we were both up and productive. Kirk had just received his bottle of MAXL, a waterless car cleaning solution that promises showroom shine. At $70 a bottle, it had a lot to prove—and it delivered! What started as a test patch turned into a full-on detail job, including the tire rims. The truck looked brand new, and we used about two-thirds of the bottle. Pricey, yes—but perfect for RV life where water access isn’t always a given.
The evening was mellow. Lynn sorted through hundreds of photos for the blog (especially from Witches Gulch), while Kirk watched Mayans on TV. The temperature dipped enough for Lynn to break out her Uggs—a sure sign that fall is creeping in.
A quiet, productive, and memorable day in the Dells.
