August 22-23, 2025 (Fri.-Sat.) – Blog Catch up, Mirror Lake.

August 22, 2025 (Fri.) - Catch Up & Relax.

After a full day of sightseeing and boat tours yesterday, today was all about catching up and slowing down.

Lynn, still feeling groggy from her Dramamine-induced slumber, didn’t wake up until 8 AM—after a marathon 15-hour “nap” that started at 5 PM the day before, with only a brief 20-minute wake-up to shower at 9 PM. Safe to say, her body needed the rest.

We eased into the day with a late breakfast at 11 AM at Mr. Pancake, a quirky restaurant set inside an old steamboat. The place was loud and bustling, and while the atmosphere was fun, the food was just okay—nothing to write home about.

After breakfast, we picked up Otis around noon. He was thrilled to see us and practically bolted for the door. Freshly bathed and groomed, he looked great and was clearly ready to head home. The staff said he was a good boy, and the total cost for boarding and grooming came to $145. Pricey, but worth it.

Back at the RV, Kirk took a nap while Lynn caught up on the blog and we both enjoyed the beautiful weather. The only hiccup? Lynn’s right foot started hurting mysteriously, making it tough to put weight on it. So she propped it up, soaked in the sunshine, and got some reading in.

Not many photos today—just a quiet, restorative day in the Dells.

Weather – High 78*, Low 57*. Wind 6-14 mph.

Traffic – None.

Food – Nothing to report.

Notable – Nothing really.

August 23, 2025 (Sat.) - Mirror Lake.

The day started off slow again—a late morning, breakfast in the RV, and a few catch-up tasks. Lynn tackled chores, while Kirk booked our next stop in West Bend, WI. Unfortunately, the campground there wasn’t available until Wednesday, 8/27, so we extended our stay in Wisconsin Dells by one more day.

By mid-afternoon, we headed to Mirror Lake State Park for a walk and some much-needed outdoor time for Otis. The weather was perfect, and the lake was buzzing with activity—kayakers, beachgoers, boaters, and hikers all soaking up the sunshine. Entry to the park was $16 for the day, and it was well worth it.

After the walk, we stopped for a late lunch at The Brat House, a spot Kirk found on Yelp. He was craving a classic brat, and Lynn was excited for some schnitzel. Sadly, it turned out to be one of our worst meals yet. Back at the RV, we both ended up with stomach issues so bad we skipped dinner entirely. Definitely not a repeat stop.

The rest of the day was spent relaxing outside in the kind of weather that reminded us of Huntington Beach—sunny, breezy, and peaceful. The evening wrapped up with crisp, chilly air and a sky full of stars. Quiet, beautiful, and a nice way to end the day.

Weather – High 71*, Low 58*. Wind 11-15 mph, gusts of 25 mph. No humidity.

Traffic – None.

Food – The Brat House – less than desirable.

Notable – Mirror Lake.
