June 7, 2025 (Sat.) - recovery, founders park

Day 3 of Lynn’s vertigo, and she’s finally starting to feel better! After being cooped up for days, getting outside was a must—though movement still had to be slow and steady to keep the dizziness at bay. A walk in the fresh air worked wonders, so we headed to Founders Park/Hanson-Larsen Memorial Park (HLMP) to explore the trails and let Otis stretch his legs too.

We swung by Walgreens to grab Kirk’s meds, making sure we’re fully stocked before hitting the road. While out, we took another walk through downtown Rapid City, enjoying the sights. On our way back to the campground we spotted black smoke. Naturally, we drove over to check it out, but it didn’t appear to be anything alarming. Most likely just a controlled burn, though it definitely caught our attention!

By 1 PM, the winds kicked in—forcing us to pull the slides in once again. South Dakota weather keeps us on our toes!  While most RVers don’t necessarily have to retract their slides due to wind, our loose slide topper turns into a noisy nightmare—so loud it’s downright unbearable. Easier to pull everything in than to endure the racket!

Weather – High 80*, Low 48*. Sunny with afternoon winds up to 35 mph.

Traffic – None.

Food – nothing spectacular.

Notable – Founders Park.

Screen time – LOOT
