November 25, 2025 (Tue.) - Scissortail Park and the Skydance Bridge.
After a busy day yesterday, we spent most of the morning relaxing in the RV. Lynn was up early at 6:45 to a chilly 46° (feels like 41°), settling into her usual blogging routine and phone calls. Kirk rolled out around 10:00, had breakfast, and tackled his chore for the day—installing the new toilet seat and bidet that finally arrived from Amazon. The old one wasn’t broken, but Kirk had his eye on a particular model, so the upgrade was a must.
By 1:30 the installation was complete and working perfectly, so we headed downtown to explore Scissortail Park. Carol had mentioned it the night before, noting that the Skydance Bridge was there and suggesting we bring a lock to add to the hundreds already attached. The bridge itself is a striking sculpture, designed to resemble Oklahoma’s state bird, the scissor‑tailed flycatcher, with its soaring “wings” rising nearly 200 feet. Luckily, Kirk had a spare lock, so we wrote on ours and fastened it to the bridge—hopefully it will remain there for years to come.
We wandered through the park grounds, admiring the art sculptures and following paths decorated for the holidays (probably looks much better at night when the lights are on). Our walk took us around the lake and past Union Station, where we noticed a couple with their chihuahua. The woman was lying on the ground with the dog perched on her stomach, snapping photos of it in front of the Union Station sign—an odd sight.
The cold eventually shortened our stroll; with more than 70 acres, we hadn’t planned to cover the entire park anyway. By 3:30 PM we were back at the RV, warm and comfortable. Lynn settled in to relax while Kirk mapped out our next stop in New Mexico—a quick overnight stay as we make our way back to California.
Though the sun was shining, the chill lingered, yet it was still a fun day of exploring Oklahoma City a little more.
