August 20, 2025 (Wed.) - Riverwalk, Otis' Shots, Chores.
The day began with Lynn up at 7:00 AM, while Kirk slept in a bit—he’d been up at 2 AM thanks to a loud rainstorm pounding the RV roof.
The morning was all about chores and logistics. Lynn tackled bill payments (hers and her mom’s), tidied up the RV, and researched USPS and laundromat locations. Even in the digital age, some bills still require monthly checks, so finding a local post office is always part of the routine. As for laundry, while we have a washer and dryer onboard, bedding is too bulky to fit. Lynn found a drop-off laundromat for the comforter and blankets—and was blissfully happy to hand it off instead of spending hours at the laundromat.
Meanwhile, Kirk was on a mission to update Otis’ vaccines. He was a few weeks overdue on two (not rabies), and we needed him current to board him while we went on our boat cruise to Witches Gulch tomorrow. Unfortunately, every local vet was booked out 2–4 weeks, which wouldn’t work since we’d be long gone. After a quick Google search, Kirk called the Sauk County Humane Society—and score! They could see Otis same-day and administer both shots for just $55. We’re not entirely sure what the typical cost is for the DAPP and Bordetella vaccines, but $55 felt like a steal. No wonder none of the vet offices referred us there! Just another example of the quirks of full-time RV life—but we’re learning as we go.
With Otis taken care of, we of course needed breakfast. We stopped at Log Cabin Restaurant and had our typical breakfast meals. It was decent but nothing spectacular. We then dropped Otis at the RV and mapped out our route to the post office and laundromat in Wisconsin Dells. We timed everything so we could drop off the laundry, then explore the town while it was being cleaned. We walked the Riverwalk, had lunch at The Boathouse overlooking the Wisconsin River, and picked up a few souvenirs. Wisconsin Dells is surprisingly touristy—there’s truly something for everyone. We had no idea it was such a tourist town and there were a ton of people!
By 3 PM, the laundry was ready ($32 for a king bedspread and blanket). The comforter was finally clean! We picked it up and headed back to the RV.
The rest of the afternoon was spent making the bed (which should honestly be an Olympic sport), relaxing outside, and knocking out a few more RV chores. A productive and satisfying day.
